One of the biggest area attractions on the Island is the dolphin watch. Numerous bottlenose and spinner dolphins reside in the surrounding waters of South Padre and are to be seen here year- round. Most dolphins can be found feeding in the surfside and also “Dolphin Cove” area in the bayside. (hence the name) There are numerous charter boats that offer the dolphin experience from the water. Cruises usually last between one and two hours per trip. Waverunner tours are also a big hit and get you close to the dolphin action.
