There are many ways to explore the South Padre coastline. No motorized vehicles are allowed on the beach unless you travel about six miles north of the island. At public beach access six for a cost of four dollars and fifty cents, vehicles are allowed to drive up on the sand. When traveling Northbound stay on the hard (packed) sand. Dunebuggies as well as jeeps and other vehicles are available for rent to cruise the beach. Don't worry about getting these rides stuck. Beachcombing, treasure hunting, fishing, and picnicking are great on these parts of the Island. While driving northbound, the Island continues for another thirty miles or so. Along the way notice the beached shrimp boat about ten miles up. That is a key point for fishermen that love to surf fish Explore the untouched dunes of the Island which are a great place to stop and take pictures. So turn on the radio and roll down the windows and let the sea breeze and the scenery take you away! |

| Best to travel during a low or receding tide. Stay off the sand dunes with motorized vehicles, and always be cautious when around people on the beach. There are no life guards on duty. Watch for rip currents. |
