Beachcombing in term is the act of searching though debris looking for things of value. Everyday debris is washed up on the shore of the Island . The debris comes from all over the world. You never know what you will find up and around the Island . The best time to beachcomb is right after a storm. The storm surge brings in debris from all over the Gulf. Hundred year old bottles, driftwood, nets, traps, ammunition, fishing gear, and pretty much everything that falls off boats end up on the Island . A great place to go beachcombing is north of the Island . With more than thirty miles of coastline, you have a better chance on finding neat little treasures. The dune line is littered with so many different objects that have floated in within the years. If you don't have the time to do it yourself there is a Beachcombers Museum on the Island . Checkout what has been found and get a great history lesson of South Padre Island . Check out the links below for more information on Beachcombing.
